The RECREATE Webinar Series continued with its second session on Wednesday, 26 November 2025 at 12:00 CET, focusing on the reuse and remanufacturing of composite materials. The webinar explored how innovative technologies and industry practices are helping extend the life of composites within a circular economy.
The session opened with Volker Mathes (AVK), who discussed the sustainability of composites and the key challenges and opportunities surrounding their reuse. Ines Sma (CNRS/PIMM) presented the laser shock method—an advanced and efficient technique for disassembling composite materials and enabling easier recovery and repurposing of components. Bonaventura Vitolo (GEVEN) shared insights from the aviation sector, highlighting how carbon fibre-reinforced composite parts can be reused to support more sustainable aircraft interior manufacturing.
The recording of the webinar is now available on the RECREATE website for anyone who missed the session or wishes to revisit the presentations.
The Webinar Series by RECREATE is a part of CHALLENGE CIRCULARITY stream curated by the CBA (www.circularbusiness.academy).
