VIDEO: Robin Szymanski, Applus+ Rescoll: Enabling Reuse Through Innovative Debonding Technology

Meet the Innovators: Robin Szymanski, Applus+ Rescoll

One of the key barriers to the circularity of fibre-reinforced composites is the permanent nature of structural adhesives, which makes repair, disassembly and material recovery particularly challenging.

In this interview, Robin Szymanski, Applus+ Rescoll presents the team’s contribution to the RECREATE project, focusing on the development of INDAR technology – an innovative debonding-on-demand primer. The technology enables strong and durable adhesive joints during a product’s lifetime while allowing controlled separation of bonded components at the end of their service life. This opens new possibilities for repair, reuse, remanufacturing and high-quality recycling of composite structures.

Robin also reflects on the project’s achievements, the potential applications of the technology across multiple industries, and the next steps towards industrial implementation.

▶️ Watch the interview to discover how smart adhesive technologies can unlock more circular composite value chains.
